Summary

Designed to accompany the ground-breaking TV series Ancient Egyptians – due for screening in November 2003 – this fascinating book vividly brings to life four thrilling events that took place in Egypt over 2,000 years ago, as recorded on wall paintings, etched in stone and written on papyrus.

The book opens with The Battle of Megiddo, the heroic tale of Pharaoh Tuthmosis who overcame his enemies by conquering the city of Megiddo in ancient Palestine. Following on is Tomb Robbers, a story of corruption in high places and thievery in deep vaults, as readers follow Amenpanufer’s bid to plunder the tomb of the Pharaoh Sobekemsaf.

Murder in the Temple plumbs the depths of villainy when two young sons are murdered by vengeful priests jealous of their father’s power.

In conclusion, The Twins is the story of two unhappy sisters who, cast out from their mother’s home, find themselves paying homage to a dead bull in order to avoid destitution.

The storylines are supplemented by box features on topics of special interest, such as how mummies were made, records were kept and tombs built. An eight page colour section is packed with stunning live action shots and computer generated images taken from the TV series.
